About The Happy Pear
David and Stephen Flynn started The Happy Pear in 2004 in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, to create a happier, healthier world and build community, to make healthy food and living accessible to everybody, and to encourage people to eat more veg! Today they are renowned wholefood and plant-based chefs, award-winning and international bestselling authors, YouTube stars, regular international, inspirational speakers and media contributors, and they have an impressive combined online and social media reach of around a million.
The Happy Pear business now employs around 170 people and it has grown into one of the most vibrant and renowned award-winning businesses on the Irish food scene, with several award-winning products available through multiple retailers SuperValu in Ireland, and Waitrose in the UK. The food phenomenon, and Irish business success story, now comprises: three wholefood cafés/food stores; a sprout farm producing wheatgrass and healthy living, organic sprouts and microgreens; a Happy Pear branded food manufacturing and distribution business producing award-winning products; a coffee roastery producing hand roasted Happy Pear coffee, using the best specialty coffee available; and a range of delicious fermented foods.
David and Stephen are three-time No. 1 bestselling authors. The Happy Pear [1st] cookbook has sold over 100,000 copies and was on the Irish bestsellers list for three years running. The World of the Happy Pear, David and Stephen's second cookbook won ‘Irish Cookbook of the Year’ at the Irish Book Awards 2016. Over 50,000 copies have been sold so far and it has been translated into Dutch for the Netherlands market. Their latest cookbook, Recipes for Happiness, is an international bestselling cookbook - within 3 days it became a No. 1 bestseller in Ireland and it debuted in the Top 10 bestseller list in the UK. It has also been translated into Dutch.
David and Stephen run a hugely popular ‘healthy eating’ Online Happy Heart Course designed to help people reboot their health through food. The course is packed with wholefood and plant-based recipes, meal plans and shopping lists, and includes online support and weekly live Facebook Q&A sessions with David and Stephen. They have supported thousands of people to make healthier eating and lifestyle choices through this course over the years – benefits can include weight loss, increased energy levels, lowered cholesterol (average 20% drop), lowered blood pressure, improved confidence and a positive change in lifestyle.
David and Stephen also feature in the Dublin episode of a Netflix Original documentary series called ‘Somebody Feed Phil’, which showcases the best of Irish food. The documentary series from the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, Phil Rosenthal, is now available to watch on Netflix globally.
Additionally, David and Stephen have worked with Jamie Oliver on his Food Tube network, Food Revolution Day, and at his annual food festival in the UK. They are also brand ambassadors for SuperValu and Renault Ireland and produce content for Waitrose & Partners in the UK.
